Harvest November 2016
Root vegetables : Hamburg Parsley Lange Oberlaaer, Swede - Wilhelmsburger, Parsnip Halblange
The reward for "growing your own" if you live in Germany, is even getting these root vegetables here, where no one seems to want to eat swede and most people have never tasted parsnips.
These are the vegetables of my childhood that I have grown to love and they will always have a place in my garden. The Hamburg parsley was unknown to me, but here in Germany it is used to flavour stews and soups much like the celeriac. It tastes a little bit like parsley and celeriac together. Delicious in a lentil soup or stew.
