My Disaster with Shipped Eggs
It's a hit and miss with shipped eggs, as I painfully experienced myself. My first shipped eggs, were in pretty good condition, when I got them. Just a lot of them were saddled. From the 20, three were not fertilised to begin with and I at least got 3 chicks out of the twenty I paid for.
Second 20 shipped eggs were were cracked or broken, what I did rescue were all scrambled and only 2 ever developed, but then died half way.
I asked the seller to mark them fragile, to no avail, so I decided to look for another seller, who is now in the process of collecting 15 eggs for me. What the post does with these ones, we will see. They are a bit cheaper than the last seller, so if they all fail it's only 30€ set in the sand.
I also bought a better incubator with an upright turner and a fan. I have three of my own mixed eggs in there now, to test the hatch rate. They are due in two days and will be in the brooder by the time my shipped eggs arrive.
Fingers crossed they get here in better condition than the last ones did!
