Update on Shipped Eggs

Wow, I was really surprised how many chicks I got out of this hatch. I got 10 Chicks out of the 15 shipped eggs and four out of the five from my own eggs. 

So either all my other incubators were crap, or I just got lucky. I think you really need a fan in an incubator to get the best results, and an even temperature.

Here they are now. 

Only 10 now as two died after the hatch, I think they were just too weak and both were rather small. Sad but it happens. 

The first Light Sussex eggs I got shipped are nearly full grown and look far better, than the ones I picked up last January. They have far darker markings and will be good to breed with. Which means I will have to phase the others out of my flock. We will see how many pullets I get from these chicks and decide what to do, when they are grown.
